Rum ageing warehouse with oak barrels

Ageing warehouse and rum barrel programme

We are specialists in building ageing warehouses and in warehouse control and management. Need new barrels, or better ones? We design your ageing warehouse with the strongest guarantees for rum maturation and for controlling evaporation losses.

Humidity decides quality and losses

Precise humidity control in ageing warehouses is vital. Atmospheric humidity can be the difference between good and bad rum production in barrel.

Warehouse humidity has an enormous effect on vapour escaping the barrel, the evaporation known as the angel's share. Poor management can be an economic disaster: high losses appear when humidity is not properly controlled.

Optimal humidity lets the wood swell naturally and creates a tight seal that reduces evaporation. But remember: we make rum, and without heat and humidity there is no oxidation; without oxidation, there is no rum.

Barrels: selection, quality and price

We work with the best cooperages, selected on quality and price, and we also supply second-use barrels at good prices with perfect finishes for rounding off rum.

We define the full barrel plan with the client: wood type, toasting, volume, rotation, position in the warehouse and the tasting calendar that tracks progress.
